Marianna Native Reflects on UF Livestock Judging Team Experience
Jackson County Farm Bureau proudly recognizes Syler Griffin of Marianna, a senior at the University of Florida majoring in Animal Sciences with a specialization in Animal Biology. Syler was recently featured on the University of Florida Livestock Judging Team Facebook page, where he shared his journey and passion for livestock judging.
Griffin, who began judging in 4-H, said he joined the UF Livestock Judging Team because he “wanted to continue doing something I loved.” His favorite memory from the season was being recognized for his cow tie at the Keystone International Livestock Contest—an experience he describes with pride and humor.
Syler noted that cattle remain his favorite species to judge, reflecting the upbringing and passion that shaped his interest in agriculture. Through judging, he shared that he has strengthened his public-speaking and communication skills, saying, “Giving reasons has helped me grow in my ability to speak to others or in crowds.”
He credits his 4-H coaches as his biggest mentors and plans to work in the agricultural field after graduation before applying to veterinary school.
The Jackson County Farm Bureau congratulates Syler on his achievements and thanks UF for spotlighting the next generation of Florida agriculture leaders.
