New ag inspection station breaks ground at U.S. 231 in Campbellton
Florida officials have broken ground on a new agricultural inspection station on U.S. 231 at the Alabama state line in Jackson County. The facility is part of recent statewide efforts to strengthen border security, expand agricultural law enforcement, and prevent pests, unsafe products, and criminal activity from entering Florida. Once completed, the station will house officers responsible for monitoring commercial traffic entering the state and supporting roadway safety throughout the region.
“Jackson County sits at the gateway to Florida, and agriculture is one of the first things that needs protecting at that line,” said Jeff Pittman, President of the Jackson County Farm Bureau. “Any investment that helps keep Florida’s food supply secure is important—but it’s equally important that the state continues listening to the people who live and farm here. Our producers want safety, efficiency, and solutions that support the flow of agricultural commerce in and out of rural communities like ours.”
